Kenneth J. Van Heel is the Global Director of Alternative Investments for Portfolio Investments, The Dow Chemical Company. In this role Ken oversees a team of investment professionals managing global investment strategy and execution of Private Equity fund and direct investments, Real Estate, and Real Assets and Infrastructure for pension plan and insurance assets at Dow. From mid-2008 through 2009 Ken also had responsibilities as a Global Director of Dow’s Corporate Venture Capital, an established group of investment professionals managing Dow investments in the venture capital sector.
Before joining Portfolio Investments as a Sr. Investment Manager in 2003, Ken worked in the Corporate Venture Capital group at Dow. Ken joined Dow in 1986 and held sales and marketing positions before assuming commercial business development roles starting in 1994 in Ventures New Business (Advanced Materials and Electronics), Performance Chemicals and e-Business. Ken’s transaction experience includes venture capital investments, spin-outs, divestitures, and strategic partnerships. In addition to his role on the WHI board, Ken serves on the boards of Gantec Inc. and Cytopherx Inc. Ken has a B.S. in Materials Science from Illinois Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. in Finance from DePaul University
