Dr. K. Anji Reddy joins WaterHealth International's Board of Directors
WaterHealth International, Inc. (WHI) announced today that Dr. K. Anji Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited (BSE:DRREDDY; NYSE:RDY), has joined the company's Board of Directors.
Dr. Anji Reddy is regarded as a doyen in India's Pharmaceutical industry for his exemplary work in bringing affordable medicines to the masses and for ushering in drug discoveries to the private sector. Founded in 1984, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited is one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in India, and has grown to include operations in more than a dozen countries. The company has earned significant recognition for its focus on improving lives through better health. India's Business World magazine named Dr. Reddy’s among "India’s Most Respected Companies" in 2004. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited was also recognized among the "Top 25 Employers in India" for 2004 by American benefits consulting firm Hewitt Associates. Dr. Reddy serves on India’s Board of Trade and the Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Pharma and Knowledge Based Industries.
In addition to his roles in industry, Dr. Reddy is a vital motive force in developing sustainable social initiatives, via two foundations he leads – Dr. Reddy's Foundation for Human and Social Development, and the Naandi Foundation.
Dr. Reddy's Foundation for Human and Social Development carries out corporate social responsibility initiatives under the direction Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited.
Naandi, an independent non-profit organization, brings together public and private resources to deliver healthcare, education and other services – including clean drinking water programs – to the underserved in India.
